AFRICA SHINES IN MONTREAL
L'industrie touristique célèbre encore une fois à Montréal

The tourism industry celebrates in Place Bonaventure in Montréal. Once again this year, Montreal's travel industry is preparing for the 17th edition of the International Travel and Tourism Show to be held on October 28, 29 and 30th 2005 in Place Bonaventure, Downtown Montreal. This yearly event attracts around 30.000 people coming to visit the stands from exhibitors representing all continents.

The African pavillion will be well represented this year with the visit, by long-date exhibitors to the show, of Tanzania and Sénégal. In addition, South Africa will be present after several years of absence. A newcomer this year, Maison d'Afrique, located in Montréal, will promote the rich african cultures and the enormous tourism potential Africa has to offer. Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt will also be part of the exhibition but will be located in the Mediterannean Sea section. It is interesting to note that those three countries maintains a permanent representation through their tourist offices located in Montréal. Once again, this show will be a very good opportunity to make a rapid tour of the world and will give customers and trade the perfect occasion to exchange. A rendez-vous not to be missed. Denis Dionne, Montréal

Background: ATA Canada Chapter was established in 1995, the same year that ATA launched Africa Travel Magazine. This chapter has focused much of its attention on the international scene through its development of ATA's official magazine and web site, which is now one of the largest and most comprehensive on the Internet. The chapter has sponsored "Best of Africa Nights" for Travel Agents, and is preparing a Road Show Caravan with media interviews, presentations and recruiting across Canada. We are starting with an ATA CANADA CHAPTER OF THE INTERNET. AN IDEA WHOSE TIME HAS COME. Photo Sequence (above right): ATA Canada Chapter hosts large Kenya Safari operator and National Tourism Office delegation in Vancouver, BC during Best of Africa Tour.

Passion for Fashion.
ATA Canada Chapter's Muguette Goufrani says, "Africans are painting the world in a kaleidoscope of bold colors and patterns." Africa Travel Magazine features fashion in every issue. MSN, Google and Yahoo score our site #1 for "Africa Fashion," from millions of entries.

Africa's Opportunity to Shine
Many African countries have chosen Montréal to launch new promotions or pay a regular visit. Internationally, Montreal has a great reputation as a bilingual city and number one center of Francophone culture in the Americas. This year once again, Africa will be well represented. The Republic of Sénégal will be represented by Mr. Paté Guye, Director for the
Sénégal Tourist Office in New York. According to His Excellency Amadou Diallo, the newly appointed Ambassador of Sénégal to Canada, local embassy staff will also invite Canadians to visit their beautiful country. There is even talk of the Tourism Minister of Sénégal being present. Sénégal is not a first time visitor at the show and has shown its interest in the Canadian market for many years.

Solid African Presence at Montréal's Salon International du Voyage
by Denis Dionne
Canada's Quebec Province hosted the World Ecotourism Summit earlier this year -and we were ready for a powerful encore at the International Tourism and Travel Show in downtown Montréal's impressive Place Bonaventure. This exciting event, one of the most important in North America, attracts over 20,000 visitors annually. A specialty of the show is the fact that the first night (Friday) is reserved for the travel trade, as hundreds of travel professionals gather to 'network' and make business deals. This large, multifaceted show is the year's hottest opportunity to present new products and destinations in a key area of the North American market. Every year, dozens of countries are represented by tourism officials and many businesses from abroad make their way to Montréal to participate. Canada Chapter of ATA plans to be out in force at the 2003 version of this exciting event (
Photo exhibits).
