EDUCATION AND TRAINING COMMITTEE

 

The Africa Travel Association (ATA) is an international, non-profit, non-political, professional travel industry association, whose objective is to promote tourism opportunities to Africa. Its membership is comprised of National Government Tourist Offices, hotels, airlines, ground and tour operators, travel agents, group tour leaders, marketing consultants and media executives. The ATA has chapters throughout Africa and North America and is a member of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) and the World Tourism Organization (WTO) as well as an industry partner with the Association of Retail Travel Agents (ARTA) and a member of the "Green Globe". ATA organizes an annual international marketing conference as well as a bi-annual symposium on environmental and cultural preservation in Africa and publishes the Africa Travel Magazine.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING COMMITTEE OVERVIEW:

The Education and Training Committee is a Standing Committee of the Africa Travel Association (ATA). The purpose of the Education and Training Committee is as follows:

To assess the educational and training needs of the Association on a regular basis and evaluate whether programs meet the needs of the members' professional growth and development;

To initiate education and training guidelines and procedures as required;

To work in tandem with the Membership Committee and Annual Congress Committee in order to disseminate news and information about the Association's education and training opportunities with regard to the travel and tourism industry of Africa; and

The Committee Chairperson shall present an education and training status report at the Annual Congress.

The current Chairperson of the Education and Training Committee is Ms. Helen C. Broadus. She is also the Africa Travel Association's Executive Secretary and a Member of its International Board of Directors. She is the President of Venue International Professionals, Inc. (VIP) &endash; a full-service travel and tourism company based in the Washington Metropolitan Area that focuses on the travel and tourism destinations on the African Continent.
