The Cradle of Aviation Museum
Long Island, New York, USA
It's purpose is to heighten the public's awareness, understanding, and appreciation of Long Island's role in the history and development of aviation and space technology and to increase public understanding of aerospace technology and its impact on American life. Highlights of the collection include: a 1909 Bleriot monoplane, the 4th oldestaircraft in the U.S.; an original 1918 Curtiss JN-4 Jenny once owned by Charles Lindbergh; a 1928 Ryan Brougham, one of the two surviving sister ships of the Spirit of St. Louis; and an original Apollo Lunar Module, one of only three still remaining on earth.

The exhibition galleries of the Cradle of Aviation Museum are located in the Donald Everett Axinn Air and Space Museum Hall. Consisting of two fully renovated pre-World War II Mitchel Field military hangars and retaining its original restored façade, the hall adjoins the Reckson Center for a total of 60,000 sq. ft. of exhibit.
