Management change at The Lord Charles
A spectacular evening on the lawns of The Lord Charles in Somerset West accompanied by the big band sound of the 55 piece KLM Harmonie, was a fitting farewell for MD Johan Agricola and sounded a warm welcome for the hotelâs new general manager, Erik Jansen.

Agricola who headed the Golden Tulip Group in South Africa for six years, has left South Africa with his family to run his own country hotel in the Netherlands. An avid promoter of tourism in the Helderberg, Agricola served on many committees and forums as was attested by the variety of guests attending the sundowner farewell function. Besides the strong contingent of Dutch friends and general managers of leading Cape Town hotels, the travel trade and the greater Helderberg community were well represented.

His successor, Dutch born Erik Jansen, joins The Lord Charles after extensive experience in luxury real estate development within the Spanish based NH Hoteles group, owners of The Lord Charles. Fluent in five languages, Jansen has worked in the management team of some of the worldâs finest hotels including, Ritz Carlton hotels in Barcelona and Forida, USA, and hotels in Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, New Zealand, Morocco, Fiji Islands and French Polynesia.
