Dear Colleague:

The Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) and Africa Travel Association's

(ATA) U.S.-Africa Tourism & Sports Seminar is just weeks away and we are

pleased with the positive response we continue to receive from you and

other key players in the travel and tourism-related industries. The buzz

around the Seminar continues to grow, and we are pleased to announce

some of the industry's top leaders as speakers and participants.

Here is a snapshot of what you will experience at the U.S.-Africa

Tourism & Sports Seminar:

* TODD JACOBSON, Vice President of Community Relations of the

National Basketball Association (NBA), will provide remarks during the

"Sports Tourism: A Continental Approach to Travel and Tourism

Development in Africa" workshop. Over the years, the NBA has garnered

international attention for their global outreach programs, including

"Basketball Without Borders," which uses basketball to influence

positive social change, and helps to raise the profile of African

countries as viable tourism destinations. This workshop will examine the

benefits and opportunities of sports tourism for Africa and Africa-based

sporting events.

* WILLIAM MALONEY, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice

President of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA), will provide

remarks during the "Introducing Africa to the U.S. Travel Consumer"

plenary session. As the world's largest association of travel

professionals, ASTA understands the trends, challenges and realities of

travel to and tourism in Africa. Maloney will share information on who

is traveling to Africa, why they are going, and what can be improved on

the travel front to increase tourism to the continent.

* The growth and modernization of intra-Africa air service is

essential to the increase of tourism on the continent. TEWOLDE G.

MARIAM, Chief Operating Officer of Ethiopian Airlines (official event

supporter) and CHRISTIAN FOLLY-KOSSI, Secretary General of the African

Airlines Association will provide an update on growth in the field and

lead discussions on how intra-Africa air travel improvements can

positively affect tourism.

* Over the past decade, e-Tourism has increasingly become the

method of choice for U.S. travelers looking to book vacations and

business trips. JIM SHERMAN, President of Shermans Travel, a leading

publisher of top travel deals and destination advice, will participate

in the "e-Tourism Strategies" workshop. Sherman will provide attendees

with an overview of current e-Tourism strategies to increase travel to

destinations that are often overlooked.
