Kikwete criticises Western media

PRESIDENT Jakaya Kikwete has criticised the western media for their policy of ignoring success stories in Africa and only painting the continent in a negative light. "We are doing so many good things out there, but unfortunately you always read, hear and view calamities, conflicts in Africa. If you are living in peace with yourself or neighbours, then no story at all," President Jakaya Kikwete said late Tuesday. Mr Kikwete said this in his address at the First Presidential Forum of Africa Travel Association (ATA) held at New York University (NYU) Africa House, where the theme was "Promoting Positive News on Africa -- Building Links Between Africa, the US and the Global Community." US university hails Kikwete

THE New York University has described President Jakaya Kikwete as a remarkable man and a great leader. It also described him as somebody who is very forward looking, articulate and one who really cares about his country. "President Kikwete and Mwalimu Nyerere are both great people", Professor Yaw Nyarko, Vice-Provost of the NYU said here yesterday. He was speaking to the Daily News after President Kikwete had addressed a presidential forum on tourism and investment organised by the Africa Travel Association at the university.
