American associations and corporations spend over US $110 billion in meetings annually. In this session, you will understand how US organizers select meeting venues and local partners. Currently, there are approximately 45,000 associations based in the USA, each organizing anywhere from 5 - 120 meetings each year. The majority are located in Washington DC (Association Capital of the USA), Chicago and New York. About 46% of them organize international meetings, according to a State of the Industry Report by Deloitte and Touche.

Dr. Sigler will give an overview of the American association and corporate meetings market after which she will interview members of her panel consisting of association executives and corporate meeting planners. There will be opportunity for questions and answers. Attend this session and learn how to get your share of this huge market.

The 5th annual World Tourism Award 2002 will honor the New York Academy of Travel And Tourism, Virtual Enterprises International, Institute For Virtual Enterprise- Kingsborough, City University of New York, in recognition of "the outstanding vision and partnership between the New York City Board of Education, Kingsborough-The City University of New York and the Travel and Tourism Industry for inspiring and training high school and college students for careers in Tourism through classroom study, virtual enterprises and internships."
