AIR GABON: ONE OF THE LEADERS OF AN ELITE GROUP OF AFRICAN NATIONAL CARRIERS.

AIR GABON is the national carrier of the Republic of Gabon. We are proud to be in the vanguard of African airlines that provide a wide-ranging international and domestic flight network, soaring across continents with the most up-to-date fleet, equipment, and highest caliber of services.

We make it easy to fly not only within Africa, but between Africa and Europe and the Middle East. Travelers coming to Africa from the United States can make easy connections to AIR GABON in Paris, London or Rome.

OUR HISTORY

Until 1977, Gabon's only airline was a small domestic carrier functioning under the Transgabon Company, with international routes served by other airlines.

Today, Air Gabon offers "Le Meillieur Solution" (The Best Solution) and convenient connections to get you here, there, and almost anywhere!

Nearly 85 percent of Gabon's terrain is composed of dense tropical forest, making ground travel quite difficult. Until the Transgabon Railway opened in 1983, AIR GABON was the sole viable means of linking the provinces. Along with the railway, we have contributed to the development and unification of the country, while continuing to be "The Best Solution" for getting around Gabon.

The 1970s saw the metamorphosis of Gabon, with a rapid economic growth driven by oil production and the export of manganese and timber that propelled the country onto the world economic stage.

Gabon's government recognized the need for a flag carrier as essential to the continued national development. Air Gabon was to become a reality. "The creation of Air Gabon," announced Gabon's President El hadj Omar Bongo, "directly contributes to the economic and political process which stands to consolidate our national unity and independence."

On June 2, 1977, Air Gabon flew its first intra-African flight, Libreville-Lome-Abidjan-Lome-Libreville. A day later it launched the international service from Paris to Gabon's capital, Libreville.

OUR OBJECTIVES:

• To provide safe, reliable, and economical means of air transportation

consistent with the needs of our customers.

• To serve the domestic market and provide Gabonese citizens with

the opportunity to travel throughout Africa and beyond.

•To promote Air Gabon as an international carrier to ensure Gabon's

global accessibility.

• To develop Libreville into a regional hub servicing Gabon's neighboring

countries of the central, western and southern regions of Africa
