CHICAGO: Is the Passenger
Bill of Rights necessary? Or does the current
regulatory framework provide adequate protection
for the consumer? What does the Department of
Transportation's Final Order mean for airports and
airlines? What is the future of examining airline
industry practices for predatory pricing given
current case law? These questions are just a
few of the issues concerning the airline industry
that the American Bar Association Forum on Air
& Space Law will address during its 2007 Annual
Meeting. With headquarters at the Peabody Hotel in
Memphis, Tenn., Oct. 3 to 6, the four-day
conference will focus on "Pressures of
Success." Several keynote speakers
will offer first-hand perspectives on critical
industry issues. These keynote speakers include
Under Secretary for Policy Jeffrey N. Shane U.S.
Department of Transportation; Frederick W. Smith,
chairman, president and CEO, FedEx Corporation;
Marion Blakey, administrator, Federal Aviation
Administration; and Philip Trenary, CEO, Pinnacle
Airlines. Other expert panelists on
program include Andrew B. Steinberg, assistant
secretary for aviation and international affairs,
U.S. Department of Transportation, who will discuss
"Changes in the Airline Industry&emdash;New
Entrants, Mergers, Alliances, Competition and
Consolidation;" Francine Kerner, chief counsel,
Transportation Security Administration, who will
address "Passenger and Cargo Security Post 3-1-1:
What's Next?;" and Joanna L. Geraghty, vice
president and associate general counsel, JetBlue,
who will speak on "Regulating a Deregulated
Industry: Recent Developments in Aviation
Regulation." Also, FedEx will provide a
rare look into its daily operations with a tour of
its global super hub. The tour is approximately
three hours and will take place at the company's
headquarters in Memphis. For more information on

Space Law was created in 1982 to provide vital and
timely information in the aviation and space law
arenas. The Forum's more than 1,500 members
represent all areas of air and space law, including
airlines, airports, the Federal Aviation
Administration, the Department of Transportation
and NASA, and include lawyers practicing in
corporate, regulatory, litigation, business and
antitrust areas. The Forum also publishes The Air
and Space Lawyer, a quarterly
