TANZANIAN BRINGS THE ARTS
AND CRAFTS OF HIS HOME COUNTRY TO THE FAMOUS SUMMER RESORT,
HYANNIS,THE HUB OF CAPE COD MASSACHUSETTS
On Saturday June 5, 2004, Hyannis, Massachusetts, Allan Shaidi, owner of "Zizini" invited 150 people to celebrate the First anniversary of this unique shop featuring crafts from his home country Tanzania as well s the rest of the Continent. But Zizini is more than a craft shop. It is a concept that Sahidi created as a cultural bridge of sorts, donating books about various countries of Africa to Elementary, middle, and High Schools in the surrounding communities. "It is our belief that we will enhance greater peace by building knowledge and understanding to people of all age, especially the young ones about the Geography and Cultures of Africa through Arts and Crafts," says Shaidi. "We also love to promote travel to Africa, and have been doing that while selling the beautiful crafts made by African Artisans." Honored guests at the celebration, featuring African cuisine in addition to the diversity of crafts, was Mr. Saidi Ngosha Magonya, Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Washington D.C. Shaidi is assisted by Ms. Nancy Burke, Manager of Zizini, as well as volunteers Mr Edwin Waluye, Monique Norman, and Susan Nugent.
