ATA's Award Winning Web Site is a Newsmagazine Online

Since many of today's most tuned in, turned on professionals get their news via the Internet, we have structured ATA's web site to closely resemble a popular newsmagazine, with the eye appeal of Conde Nast , the shelf life of National Geographic and the variety of Readers Digest. To catch, command and capture the viewer's attention, our headline bars telegraph the core message in sequence. The visitor's attention is further riveted by photos of Africans in action. One of our most popular typefaces is called "impact" - and that's exactly what this web site conveys. Maintained by professional media people, the site has grown to 2,400 pages and is updated daily, often many times. We're on the 'news release' list of many of the world's public relations agencies, corporations and governments

Does it work?
Ask the experts at Webtrends, a leading statistics firm. In August 2005, our ATA web site generated over 31,000 hits and 8,100 page views daily. These viewers are people with an extremely high attention span, since the content is of sufficient interest to keep them glued to the screen. Proof? Our readers average 10 minutes per viewer session.

Further statistics are gathered by searches on Google and Yahoo, North America's two most effective search engines. The quickest way to judge our web site's power, performance and potential is to search using basic words. You cannot get more basic than using the topic "Africa Travel," two words which open the floodgates to millions of web pages. Here's how we ranked against worldwide competition in March.

Africa Fashion - #1 out of over 20 million entries on Yahoo and 6.8 million on Google
Africa Travel Fashion - # 1 out of 11 million entries on Yahoo and #1 and #2 on Google out of 2.5 million. entries
Africa Travel - #5 out of over 36 million entries on Google and #7 out of 100 million entries on Yahoo
(Above statistics are from Webtrends, Aug 2005)

Other random searches dealt with themes covered in our magazine, such as "Africa in One Country" - "The Real Africa" -"Magical Kenya" - "Festival of Guinea" - "Ethiopia's Historic Route" - "13 months of Sunshine" - and "Great Cities of Morocco." In all of these searches, ATA's web site was either Number One, or in the Top Three.

These searches also yielded surprising results when keeping tabs on important Africans in business and government. For example, here are several names you will know: Hon. Zakia Hamdani Meghji (Tanzania), Hon. Pierre Hele (Cameroon) , H.E. Amani Abeid Karume (President, Zanzibar, Hon. Sylla Hadja Koumba Diakite (Guinea) and Hon. Yusuf Sukkar (Ethiopia). In all cases, we ranked number one or close to it.

We also showed up well on events, such as Adventures in Travel Expo (New York), SADC Heads of State Summit and others, sometimes outranking the organization's own web site,

African Diaspora Heritage Trail: #1, Peace Through Tourism, Corporate Council on Africa, Festival of Guinea. The results- #1 in most, top ten in all.

Similar results showed up for great causes such as Miracle Corners, Students for Peace, The Flying Hospital, and the Africa Group.

Another thing about Africa Travel Magazine you can rely on - we neve stop searching, testing and improving our web site.
