DOWNTOWN RESTAURANTS

African Queen: Boulbinet. Varied menu. Crowded during lunchtime. Excellent bar with good fruit drinks. Good pizza. Tel: 41-30-76

Brasserie Kaloum: Boulbinet, in the Hotel Kaloum. Excellent Pasta dishes. Also pizza, fish dishes, and steak. Nicely decorated and the service is outstanding. Tel: 41-33-10/41-33-08

Des Iles: Delicious grilled chicken and fish. Many other items on the menu are also excellent. One of the most popular restaurants in the American Community. Outdoor dining only. Hours: 9:00 a.m. to midnight. Tel: 44-27-64

Le Cèdre : A popular eating place. Food is good, portions ample and service reasonable. Tel: 79-48-36

Le Panda: Great Chinese food, friendly and fast service, and reasonable prices. Tel: 44-36-46

Petit Palais: One block from the Novotel. This quaint establishment offers a limited variety of Asian dishes and the usual Guinean choices. Kareoke night. Tel: 40-40-33

La Terrace: Good African dishes, grilled fish, and French meals. Open only in the evening. Clean, reasonable prices.

Petit Bateau: On the water where small craft are tethered. Salt water swimming pool. Centre-Ville, Quartier Coronthie. Good for both lunch and dinner. Tel: 41-33-84

Hong Kong: Across from Camayenne Hotel. Chinese food, dinner special includes a soup, the main dish, and a dessert for 11,000 GF per person. Tel: 44-65-85

La Pecherie/Hôtel Camayenne: Corniche-Nord. Dine in a paillote with a view of the ocean, beach, and many fishing boats. The food is excellent and prices reasonable. Open for lunch and dinner. Very good all-you-can-eat Sunday buffet lunch. Tel: 41-40-89

Patisserie le Damier: Centre-Ville, Marché NIGER, Rue KA 080. A popular eating place for Americans, serving Continental breakfast and lunch, but it is somewhat expensive. Located downstairs from the restaurant itself is a very nice bakery, which offers a wide variety of pastries. Quality is excellent. Restaurant is quiet, cozy and very French. Tel: 41-17-86

SUBURBAN RESTAURANTS

Aux Deux Saison: Kipé. African dishes, pizza, hamburgers in a relaxed atmosphere. Indoor/Outdoor seating. Small bar. Live music most weekends.

Mariador Résidence: Ratoma.Ocean view, dine indoors or outdoors. Special buffet lunch on Sundays. Prices reasonable. Tel: 41-27-52

Mariador Park: Taouyah. Very good food. Has several menus to chose from, with different prices. French and Russian cuisine, nice atmosphere. Dine indoors or out on the patio. Converted villa with parking in yard. Tel: 43-11-32

Cyrkanos: Good food and reasonable prices, but service varies. They often have a Jazz band.

Paris Conakry: Nongo. Nice, quiet restaurant overlooking a port full of fishing boats and a gathering place for Guinean families. Great food and reasonable prices. Friendly service.

Le Wonderful: Kipè. Excellent Chinese food served outdoors. Shrimp dishes and ginger chicken are especially tasty. Will cater for parties and prepare dinner to take-out.

Le Riviera: Taouyah. Excellent Italian, European, Oriental dishes, and pizza for a reasonable price. Dine outdoors overlooking a beautiful yard and beyond that, the ocean. Under a canopy during the rainy season. Nice setting and the perfect place for a night out. , look for the sign at the Mariador turnoff near The Transit bar. Tel: 012-66-11-98

Hotel César: Taouyah, between the two Mariador hotels. Italian restaurant. Pizza and calzones, good variety of well prepared pasta and other dishes. Dine outdoors, overlooking petanque games or tournaments. Great place for the family. Reasonableprices. Tel: 79-48-36

Hotel Galion: Ratoma, overlooking the ocean. Has a good menu selection and moderate prices. French menu. Tel: 40-25-71 / 42-20-22 / 40-32-82
