figures and international media travelled from 35
						nations to attend the event.
Set in extensive landscaped gardens, the Corinthia
Palace Hotel & Spa, the ‘Grand Lady’ of Malta’s
luxury hotels, was the very first hotel to fly the
Corinthia flag when it opened in 1968 in the presence of

						Hotels’ brand.

						Following
extensive refurbishment and restructuring work, the
400-room luxury Corinthia Hotel St Petersburg was

acquired as an operating hotel in 2002 by International
						Hotel Investments plc. (IHI).

Corinthia Hotels, has since invested a further Euro €100
million in the total refurbishment of the original
hotel, complete with a new grand foyer, a new restaurant
and new bars. The adjoining buildings on either side of
the hotel were demolished and carefully reconstructed
with ornate facades matching their original splendour,
rebuilt using traditional techniques. The hotel also has
the city’s first grand ballroom in a five-star hotel.
 Underlining the depth
and quality of the travel and tourism sector across
Europe Graham E. Cooke, President and
Founder, World Travel Awards said: “During
times of economic austerity world-class brands come into
their own, and the winners at our Europe Ceremony
represent the cream of the continent.”

Palace Hotel as the leading hotel in St Petersburg,
Russia, took a major step forward with the laying

destination, as also as an important political and
economic hub. This augurs well for our project, and
indeed underpins our decision to invest a further

of upgrading the current facilities, as also

Petersburg. The Nevskij project is scheduled for
completion in late 2007. The project
features the refurbishment of all public areas in
the current hotel and principally the total
re-organisation of the hotel lobby, befitting a
world-class sense of arrival. The project will also
include the upgrade and redevelopment all the
                  hotel's restaurants. In addition, the
project will feature the extension of the Hotel
into the adjoining building at 59 Nevskij Prospekt.
This extension will house an additional 105
executive standard bedrooms and a 250m2
Presidential Suite, bringing the hotel's total
inventory to close to 400 bedrooms. The new
bedrooms will be supported by a separate executive
club lounge, where guests can avail themselves of
separate check-in and lounge facilities. Besides,
